Avandel Guitars are handcrafted in Wales by Russell Rose and endorsed by the Acoustic Guitar Workshop. In his workshop near Swansea Russell builds sumptuous instruments that offer
superb value for money. David Kilpatrick, a highly talented player and composer for guitar, is already an Avandel convert. You can read what he said and hear sound samples at Avandel's site: www.avandel.co.uk

Russell built a Special AGW 000 Model, with walnut back and sides. Our distinctive "Little Guitar" logo is inlaid in the headstock. Russell has kept a record and it makes fascinating reading for anyone interested in the process and art of making a quality acoustic guitar. Read on... Russell also writes a regular column in our newsletter ACOUSTIC GUITAR REVIEW. Recent topics include:

  • discussion of the merits of various tonewoods;
  • humidity and your guitar;
  • building an acoustic guitar.

BRISTOL GUITAR BUILDERS¬
Right here in our hometown of Bristol we have two great guitar builders. Jonny Kincead has been a fixture in Kingsdown for years and years. His wisdom and knowledge of guitar building goes very deep indeed. He's written a book on the subject and his guitars, it goes without saying, are fantastic.

There's also Tom Waghorn, who's resident guitar wizard at Treble Rock, the coolest guitar shop in the West! Waghorn dreadnoughts kick serious ass in the bottom end, nice for driving, boom-boom-boom acoustic blues. He also makes smaller bodied acoustics of rare beauty and tone.
