Rick Payne - Blue River Blues - CD $10.99 inc shipping

Rick Payne recorded Blue River Blues at the Bennett House Studios in Grass Valley California back in 1990. It's a collection of self-penned and classic blues songs such as "Little Red Rooster". Guest guitarist was the legendary John Girton of "Dan Hicks And His Hot Licks" fame. His outstanding acoustic lead work is featured on tracks like Blind Blake's, Ditty Wa Ditty (real audio preview below). The Acoustic Guitar Workshop has remastered and repackaged this little gem and it's available NOW.

Reviews for Blue River Blues
"This collection of original and traditional acoustic blues songs is an inspiration to any guitar player. Rick Payne's guitar and voice capture the blood and tears of what makes the blues blue. If you like Jorma Kaukonen, you'll love Rick Payne. Guest appearance by John Girton from 'Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks.'" Review by Kevin Crossett http://www.guitarsam.com

"Rick Payne’s ‘Blue River Blues’ has hardly been off my CD player since I bought it. I’m in danger of wearing it out! If you’re fortunate enough to catch him in concert do it man! If not then this absolute cream of an album will keep you going. It’s packed with hot blues from ‘Fool for a Cigarette’, to my personal favourites, ‘The Devil Inside’ and the haunting Celtic Blues, ‘Kilkenny Castle’. Thanks for the music!" Review by Chris Elliott

"This is quite simply one of the best "New" Acoustic Blues albums I've heard. Ranks right up there with the likes of Eric Bibb and Keb Mo. It's a mix of old standards like Blind Blake's immortal "Ditty Wa Ditty" and new original material. Check out John Girton's outstanding lead acoustic guitar. This is a must have album for anyone who likes great acoustic music and acoustic blues in particular. I give "Blue River Blues" 11 out of 10! " Review by Dave Dawson
